Former champion General service Unit (GSU) and Kenya prisons women recorded victories at the second leg of Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league that served off on Thursday at the Eldoret National Polytechnic grounds.
However, it was a bad start for defending champions Kenya Prisons men who lost their match against Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) at the same venue.
GSU served off with victory in straight sets of 25-23, 25-23 and 25-20 against Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
In women, prisons were too good for newbies Maranatha in straight sets of 25-11, 25-13 and 27-25 with head coach Josp Barasa saying that he had to mix young and senior players to deliver.
After winning against Maranatha 3-0, he says that with three points, they will have to push to get points and earn points ahead of play-offs.
“The most important thing is a win. We have played four matches so, winning three with one walk over one and a win against Maranatha is good and now we have 12points, which is good for a team to maintain. We played well but the other team was low we need to work on our speed and service, reception which we have lost so many,” said Barasa.
It was a bad day for men champions Kenya prisons who lost to KPA in a five setter thriller of 25:22, 21:25, 16:25, 25:21 and 15:8)
