Rwandan international Jean D’Amour Hitayezu continued his impressive run on the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) circuit by claiming the Coast ‘Barry Cup’ Open title at the par-71 Mombasa Golf Club, just two weeks after winning the Gold Fields Trophy in Kakamega.
The Kigali Golf Club player produced a composed performance over the three-day tournament, finishing on a three-under-par total of 210 to secure his second KAGC victory of the season. Hitayezu led the championship from start to finish after the event teed off on Friday and concluded on Sunday afternoon in the coastal city.
He opened his campaign with a one-over-par 72 before bouncing back with a superb three-under-par 68 in the second round to take firm control of the leaderboard. He then sealed the title with a level-par 71 in the final round, underlining his consistency throughout the tournament.
The victory further strengthens Hitayezu’s growing reputation on the Kenyan amateur golf circuit as he continues to challenge the country’s top players in the 2026 KAGC season.
