Michael Karanga successfully retain the Manchester Salver, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships series title played today at the par 71 Eldoret golf club.
The club player fired a total of two over par 215 to retain the title ahead of Nandi Bears Shield Champion Elly Barno, Eldoret Kenneth Serem, Muthaiga John Koina and Golf Park Raphael Lemingan winding up the top three after tying in second position with seven over par 220.
The champion had a good start in the three-day championships that teed off on Friday when he fired level par 71 in round one on Friday with five birdies, ten pars, a bogey and two double bogeys.
In the second round on Saturday, he harvested big, improving to a one under par 70 when he sunk six birdies, eight pars, three bogeys and a double bogey before scaling the heights in the final round today.
Despite rolling in three over par 74, with four birdies, ten pars, two bogeys and two double bogeys, Karanga held on to victory.
