St Patrick’s Iten set up a successful revenge against champions Kabianga High school in the rugby 15s at the ongoing Rift valley Secondary Schools Sports Association (RVSSSA) at the Wareng High school grounds.
Iten, which lost to kabianga at the finals to book for national slot beat Kabianga 29-06 in in the final pool D match to lock out Kericho based school.
Following the victory, the Bernard Indasi coached side will now face Laikipia’s Nanyuki Boys in the quarterfinals.
Indasi said revenge was good after their national dream. “We need to improve on our set pieces because Nanyuki are tactical,” said Indasi.
In other matches, Uasin Gishu’s Kipsombe beat Baringo’s Kabarnet 7-3 in pool C to sail through and meet Kapsabet Boys’.
Nakuru’s Jomo Kenyatta overcame Ngong Town from Kajiado County in 5-0 in pool B.
Ortum High School from West Pokot managed to beat Kilgoris High School in Narok County after scoring 27-0 in pool A while Kabarnet High School from Baringo narrowly beat Longisa High School from Bomet County in 12-7 in pool C.
In the quarter finals, Ortum High will be playing with Kabarnet High with Jomo Kenyatta battling it out with St Anthony High Kipsombe hosting Kapsabet Boys High in the third match.
In hockey, national boys hockey champions St Anthony hammered Baringo’s Emining 3-0 as Nandi’s Kapsabet Boys beat Tambach High in 2-1. In the hockey girls’ quarters, Brenda Moraa scored a solitary goal in the penalty flicks to hand Nakuru’s Afraha a place in the semifinals against West Pokoto’s Tartar Girls as Tachasis thrashed Mogotio 7-0 in the second semifinal.in track Mercy Chepkorir and Ronald Kipkoech were cross country winners in the 8km and 6km cross country races.
In Sprints, Kapsitet school’s Duncan Kipngeno won double, claiming both 100m and 200m titles. The kericho based runner won the 100m in 11.20 followed by baringo’s Ali Mhahar (11.40 and Erick Barasa from St Anthony coming third in 11.50.
In his 200m, he won at 22.90 followed closely by Kaplelach’s Collins Kimutai (23.60) and Nandi’s Brian Kosgey was third at 23.70.
