Former world 5,000m silver medalist Jacob Krop will start his Diamond League season at the Oslo meeting that will be held on June 12th in Norway.
Speaking on Saturday June 7th during Moi Girls Kapsowar Half marathon, Korp said that he has been training well in readiness for the race where he will be competing in the 5,000m.
“This will be my first Diamond League with hopes of getting good results as part of preparations for the World Championships in Tokyo,” said Krop.
Born and raised in West Pokot county, Krop said that he wants to feature in the team that will travel to Prefontaine Classic where Kenya will be selecting the 5,000m athletes.
“So far we are the only two of us, me and Kimeli (Nicholas Kipkorir Kimeli) that have made the qualifying time for Tokyo set at 13:00. I really want to make the team,” said Krop.
At oslo, he will be up against compatriot Kimeli, Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei, Ethiopians Hagos Gebrhiwet, Yomif Kejelcha, Berihu Aregawi, Telahun Haile Bekhele, Mohammed Ahmed, Thierry Ndikumwenayo and Addisu Yihune.
