Reigning Olympic Games marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir Ngeno defended her world half marathon title after winning the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Riga, Latvia.
The former New York marathon led 2019 world athletics 5,000m silver medalist Margaret Chelimo Kipkemboi and youngster Catherine Reline to win her third world half marathon title to join the big names like Tegla Loroupe, Paula Radcliffe, and Lornah Kiplagat in the distance.
Celebrating her 30th birthday, Jepchirchir won the title in 67:25 that follows her 2016 and 2020 world half marathon titles.
As she won gold, Kipkemboi won silver after finishing second in 67:26 with Reline settling for bronze at 67:34.
