Justus Madoya ends Rwanda Open second

Great Rift Valley Golf Resort’s Justus Madoya failed to defend Kenyan title when he finished second when he fired seven under par 277 in the 2018 Rwanda Open Golf Championships that came to an end on Sunday played on par 72 Kigali Golf Club.

Dismas Indiza, who finished second in the inaugural Malawi Golf Open championships on Sunday, won the Rwanda Open gold Championships in 2017.

Madoya finished the championships second behind home player Ernest Ndayisenga when he started with a 76 in the first round, though he managed to improve in the last three rounds by firing 66, 68 and a final round 67.

Ndayisenga posted 69 in the closing round, having fired 69, 70 and a low 65 in the early rounds, to claim the title with an impressive total of 11 under par 273, to take the overall prize.

Kopan Timbe finished third behind Madoya after carding six under par total of 278 made up of 74, 69, 67 and 68 in the final round.

Four Kenyan professional golfers took part in the Rwanda Open. Madoya and Timbe were also accompanied by Sullivan Muthugia and Joseph Karanja who posted 284 and 286 respectively.
