Kabras hosts KCB in a supremacy Kenya Cup battle at Nandi Bears

Kabras Sugar will host champions KCB in the Kenya Cup battle of supremacy this Saturday weekend at the Nandi Bears Golf Club in Nandi County.

Second placed Kabras Sugar will lock horns with leaders KCB after the match was shifted from Kakamega to Nandi due to the upsurge of COVID-19 in western Kenya counties.

The bankers, who lead the log with 38 points play second placed Kabras that have 30 points after playing eight and six matches respectively.

The 2pm match will be proceeded by Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) who will be hosting their university counterparts, the Kenyatta University side Blak Blad in the university derby.

MMUST coach John Asila said that they have now adopted the paying environment and the team is ready for the challenge ahead.

“It was challenging in the first game but we have now adapted the climate ready for the challenge. In the first game but now we understand the area,” said Asila.

He added that they have known the length of the field, its challenges, the wideness among other minor issues we encountered in Nandi but it is a great exposure and a good place for us all,” he said.

Going into the match on Saturday Asila said that they are ready to pick maximum points.

“We are well prepared for the challenge, hoping for better results t the end of the day,” he said.

Nandi Bears chairman Mutai Kendiiwo said: “We are blessed to host the two rugby teams and as a club, we are ready for the teams who will be playing at one of the best pitches in the country. We have prepared the pitch so well to enjoy the good weather.”

He added the pitch, which is in a high altitude region, will provide a good experience for the players.

“We have had a good experience in hosting big matches and this will not be an exception. We hosted an Olympic-bound Shujaa in 2016 and with such experience the players will enjoy the ambiance of the facility,” he said.
