Tusker FC head Coach Robert Matano and KCB striker Derrick Otanga clinched the June Football Kenya Federation Premier League coach and player of the month respectively.
Matano, who guided the brewers to secure next season’s CAF Champions League slot after they finished at the top of the table by June 30, said the award will be a motivation.

The club started the journey by beating Posta Rangers 1-0, winning against Kariobangi Sharks with similar score, followed by a 2-1 over Western Stima, humiliated Ulinzi Stars 4-1.
He bate KCB’s Zedekiah Otieno and then Nairobi City Stars coach Sanjin Alagic to bag the Ksh. 50,000 and a personalized trophy, becoming the sixth winner of the award this season after Francis Kimanzi, Andre Casa Mbungo, Stanley Okumbi, and Vaz Pinto.
Otanga led the attack as KCB went unbeaten in June, winning three and drawing one of their four league games, to narrowly missing out on the Caf Champions League slot that went to league leaders Tusker.
KCB garnered points from a possible 12 with Otanga solely earning his side six by scoring two winning goals against Bidco United and Mathare – with KCB winning both games 1-0.
Otanga walked home with Sh50, 000 and a personalised trophy.
