Kandie and Chepkorir are KDF cross country champions

Former World Half marathon record holder Kibiwott kandie and Diana Chepkorir were the winners of the 2025 Kenya Defence Forces Cross Country championships held today at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.

Coming from Embakasi, Kandie clocked 29:24.8 to reclaim the title he lost last year to Peter Mwaniki ahead of Wajir Airbase Wesley Yego who was second in 29:28.7 with Wilson Too of Kahawa completing the podium at 29:47.7

2021 World Athletics U20 Championships 3000m Steeplechase bronze medallists Simion Koech from Laikipia Air Base finished sixth in 29:59.2 behind Charles Kakuri (29:54.9) and Hillary Kipkoech (29:57.6), who finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Coming from Embakasi, Chepkorir won the women’s race when she cut the tape at 33:14.0 ahead of former champion Joyce Chepkemoi of Laikipia Air Base came home second in 33:16.4 with former London Marathon champion Joyciline Jepkosgei timing 33:27.2 to complete the podium.
