Karanga swing into Ghana Open victory

Kenya’s Michael Karanga fired five under par 67 to win the 88th edition of Ghana Open Golf championships at the par 72 Centre of World Gold Club in Tema, Ghana.

In the 54 hole tournament that teed off Thursday, managed to fired six under par 210 to win the title as he plans to break Kopan Timbe national record in winning Kenya Amateur Golf Championships titles.

The Kiambu golfer now leading the KAGC standings said that the Ghana tournament was good for him as he plans to play good golf across the world.

“I had good game here and winning was a great chance. This is my first individual win away from Kenya,” said Karanga.

So far Karanga has won 11 with seven remaining innthe series. His wins are Sigona with Sigona Bowl, Windsor Classic, Muthaiga Open, Railways Invitation, Coronation Trophy, Limuru Open, Coast open, Kenya Amateur Matchplay, Vasco da Gama, Kenya Amateur Strokeplay and the Kabete Open collecting 1213 points followed a distance by John Lejirma of Kenya Railways and Ugandan Godfrey Nsubuga.

Those remaining are: Tea Field (Kericho), Nandi Shield (Nandi Bears), Karen Challenge (Karen), Manchester Salver (Eldoret), Kiambu Open (Kiambu), Uhuru Shield (Royal) and Nyali Open in Nyali.
