Karimi lead Kenyans in podium sweep as Naibei settles in second at Venice marathon

Lucy karimi won the Venice Marathon held today in Switzerland as Emmanuel Rutto Naibei managed second position.

Karimi led an all women podium sweep for Kenyan athletes when she clocked 2:27.12 followed by Rebecca Chesir kangogo (2:29.14) with Caroline Jebet Korir completing the podium in an all Kenyan affair at 2:29.46.

Burundi’s Elvanie Nimbona was 4th in 2:30.25

In men, Ugandan Mutai Munyo won the title in 2:08.10 followed by Kenyan naibei (2:09.41) and Ethioipian Tesefe Abebe Delelegn completed the podium timing 2:09.34.

Another Ethiopian Kibrom Detsa habtu was 4th in 2:12.12 as Kenyan Richard Mengich (2:12.40) and John Kiprono langat (2:12.53) closed top six positions.
