Lejirma win stroke play title at Vipingo Ridge

Kenya Railways golfer John Lejirma won the Kenya Amateur Strokeplay championships, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series title at the par 72 Vipingo Ridge golf resort today.

The former Kenya Amateur Match Play Champion edged out Sammy Mulama and Isaac Makokha for the title in a tournament that teed off on Thursday in a 72-hole four day battle.

Today’s win is the 5th win in the series after firing level par 72 for a total of 11 over par 299 for the title edging out other 49 golfers who made the cut on Saturday from a 76 players.

Following the victory, Lejirma has qualified for the Magical Kenya Open golf championships set for next year.

Sammy Mulama from Golf Park shot eight over par for a total of 21 over par despite leading Mulama round one and two.

Then defending champion Adel Balala who could not display his top form which earned him the title in last year’s event at Nakuru, shot eight over par 80 in the closing round to finish as Muthaiga’s Jay Sandhu was joint sixth with Uganda’s Michael Alunga on 313
