Kenya defeated Egypt to retain the women Roll Ball World Cup title held over the weekend in Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in balewadi In Pune, India.
The national team, which travelled late to the championships beat Egypt 5-0 at the finals to retain the title they won in 2019, the third title for the country after winning the 2015.
Unbeaten Kenya beat Nepal 8-1, France 10-0, Sri Lanka 6-2 and Egypt 2-1 in pool matches before humiliating Poland 2-1 in the semi-finals.
The national team first won the title in 2015 in Chennai City, India before reclaiming the title in 2019 in the same city.
The team’s success at the World Cup is sure to encourage more people to take up the sport and perhaps even lead to the development of more dedicated playing facilities in the country.
