Kenya Harlequins were crowned champions of 2024 National Rugby Sevens that came to a close today at the Nakuru Athletics Club in Nakuru County.
Despite their dismal performance, losing in the quarterfinals to Nondescripts, Quins managed to win the overall title after Kabras Sugar, their rivals lost in the semifinals to Nondies again.
The 2023 Sepetuka champions Nondies remained the giant killers, ending the journey for both the series leaders Quins and Kabras.
Quins only needed to qualify into the semifinals of Prinsloo 7s for the title but the loss to Nondies was a blow in the Ngong Road derby.
But the delay did not last after defeating Kabras 15-5 and with the loss, handed tem the title as queens celebrated on the sidelines to claim their 4th title after 2005, 2006, 2012 and the 2024.
After beating Kabras in the semis, Nondies will now face Strathmore Leos at the finals with the later beating Menengai Oilers in sudden death 12-7.
