Multiple Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon, Olympic champions Beatrice Chebet, Faith Cherotich and Emmanuel Wanyonyi were crowned the champions in various events at the conclusion of Diamond League series in Brussels, Belgium.
After winning both silver and gold at the Paris Olympic Games, Kipyegon continued with her dominance winning the Brussels title, taking home her 5th Diamond league title when she timed 3:54.75 to win the 1,500m.
She edged out Ethiopia’s Diribe Welteji to second at 3:55.25 with Australia’s Olympic silver medalist Jesica Hull coming third in 3:56.99.
Another Kenyan Nelly Chepchirchir finished fifth after clocking 3:58.05.
As the only Kenyan in the 3,000m steeplechase, the Olympic bronze medalist Faith Cherotich did not disappoint, setting a sweet revenge against Olympic and World 3,000 m steeplechase champion Winfred Yavi.
Cherotich crossed the finish line in 9:02.36 after outpacing Yavi to second (9:02.87) and Uganda’s Peruth Chemutai coming third at 9:07.60.
Beatrice Chebet continued with her great performance by winning the 5,000m title in 14:09.82, ending Almaz Ayana’s record of 14:09.82 set in 2016.
Ethiopia’s Medina Eisa managed second position at 14:21.89 with compatriot Fotyen Tesfay finishing third in 14:28.53 as personal best.
Another Ethiopian Ejgayehu Taye’s fourth-place finish in 14:29.70 with Kenyans Caroline Nyaga setting her personal best of 14:30.14 in 5th.
Emmanuel Wanyonyi managed to handle Canadian Marco Arop to win the 800m title.
He claimed the title in 1:42.70 ahead of Djamel Sedjati settled for second in 1:42.86 while Arop clocked 1:43.25 in third.
