Kenya Simbas shine over Supa Barbarians in build match match

National rugby men 15s, the Kenya Simbas defeated Supa Barbarians in the ongoing build up matches in South Africa yesterday.

The Jerome Paarwater side won 27-24 against their hosts in a match played at the Nylstroom Rugby Club in Limpopo in their penultimate match of the South African tour.

Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) is using the tournaments as part of their build up ahead of Rugby Africa Cup for 2027 Rugby World Cup qualifiers.

Kenya went ahead through Timothy Omela after converting his try for a 7-0 lead before Patrick Sabatia missed extras for the try to extended the lead to 12-0 but unconverted try for Barbarians were reduced to 12-05 but captain George Nyambua’s unconverted try moved Simbas to 17-05.

After break, Barbarians added a converted try for 17-12 then Andycole Omolo converted try made it 24-12 Barbarians converted try moved closer to 24-19 but Omela’s penalty made it 27-19 as hosts uncoverted try moved to 27-24 for the victory.

Kenya started with a 17-all draw against SWD Eagles on June 3rd, lost to South Africa U20 24-42 then 19-75 in the second match, followed by a 62-22 victory over Tygerberg RFC and a 26-42 loss to Sanlam Boland and the Supa Barbarians 27-24 ahead of their final match against match tomorrow.
