Kenya’s Rising Stars and Tanzanian side Ngorongoro Heroes will renew their rivalry at the CECAFA Under 20 final set for Sunday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
With the two nations already qualified to play at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals after making it to the CECAFA Under 20 finals, the match will be all about bragging rights on who will lift the trophy.
The two nations that opened the championships, will now close the champions.
The Salimu Babu coached side thrashed Burundi 4-0 in the second semifinal match to book the hosts who came from a goal down to win 2-1 after enjoying home fans in the first semifinal with goals from Lawrence Okoth (52), Hassan Kitsao (68), Aldrine Kibet (70), and Louise Ingavi (90+4).
Uganda scored first Brian Toto scored first for Uganda as Tanzanian Sabri Kondo leveled the score to 1-1, forcing the match into the 30 minutes extra time as Jammy Jammy sealed the victory for the hosts.
Kenya and Tanzania will renew their rivalry just like in their pool A match when Kenya beat the hosts 2-1 with Kevin Wanganya and Andreas Omondi scoring for Kenya and Raheem Mkinyangi netting the consolation.
