Junior Starlets, the Kenya under 17 football team has been handed a bye at the FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
During the CAF draw held today in Cairo, Egypt, Kenya had been ranked high alongside Nigeria and Zambia and will now face the winner between Namibia and Uganda who will face off in the first round.
The Mildred Cheche coached team competed at the world Cup, winning one match and losing two and at the qualifiers, they face the winner between Uganda and Namibia set for March 7–9 and return leg between March 14–16.
Alongside Kenya, Nigeria and Namibia, Burundi also received a bye to the second round.
After second round, the draw will see Kenya, if they progress face off with Egypt/Cameroon or Zimbabwe/Ethiopia in the third and final round set for April 18–20 and return leg between April 25–27.
Africa will send five teams to the 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, hosted in Morocco for the first time, from October 17 to November 8, 2025
