Ruth Chepngetich and Beatrice Chebet’s world records have been ratified.
Yestareday, the World Athletics ratified two world records for both Chepngetich and Chebet in the mixed women marathon and the 10km by Chebet.
After setting a new high world mixed women record during Chicago marathon at 2:09:56, Chepngetich’s became the first ever female marathoner to clock a sub-2:10.
Her fellow countrywoman, Chebet, took her career to another level in 2024 when she smashed the world record for the women’s 10,000m at the Prefontaine Classic in May.
The 25-year-old clocked 28:54.14 on her way to victory at the Diamond League competition, which doubled up as trials for the Paris Olympics
