Kenya is mourning again the passing on of Kibathi Muigai, a rally driver in the 70s, who has rested.
Muigai, the brother to politician Ngengi Muigai and Kungu Muigai, first cousin to former President Uhuru Kenyatta, was one of Kenya’s pioneer indigenous rally drivers.
He passed away last evening where during his time, Kibathi drove a Mitsubishi Colt Lancer and navigated by Arshad Khan.
The Colt was synonyms with Joginder Singh aka ‘Flying Sikh” who won the Safari Rally three times, in 1965 driving a Volvo PV544 with his brother Jaswant as co-driver, and in 1974 and 1976 driving a Mitsubishi Colt Lancer 1600 GSR
