Kibiwot, Chepkoech, Kipyegon, Rotich to battle for Monaco DL titles

Reigning Commonwealth Games 3,000m steeplechase silver medalist Abraham Kibiwot, world 3,000m steeplechase record holder Beatrice Chepkoech, Olympic 1,500m champion Faith Kipyegon will be leading the Kenyan contingent at the Monaco Diamond League on Friday in France.

The top Kenyan athletes will be fighting for top positiins in the 6th leg of the series ahead of Olympic Games to be staged in Tokyo, Japan.

Kibiwot will be at the starting lineup with Amos Kirui in the water and barriers race.

In women’s race, Chepkoech will be renewing her rivalry with former world 3,000m steeplechase champion Hyvin Kiyeng and Fancy Cherotich.

Kipyegon, who has dominated the 1,500m will be up against Winny Chebet. But the battle will be in men’s race where Charles Simotwo will be up against world 1,500m champion Timothy Cheruiyot.

The duo who battled out for Olympic slots, Somotwo won the title, locking out Cheruiyot. As the duo fight for the space, Timothy Sein will be chasing another slot.

Olympic bound Ferguson Rotich will be off against Emmanuel Korir in men’s 800m.
