Olympic marathon winner Eliud Kipchoge failed to retain his London marathon title ran today in England.
The world marathon record holder finished in position eight in a race won by Ethiopia’s Shura Kitata as Vincent Kipchumba managed second position.
On his official twitter account, Kipchoge wrote: “I take this defeat positively as I focus to another race.”
He added: “After 25 kilometers my ear blocked and it couldn’t open anymore. But this is how sport is, we should accept defeat and focus for the winning next time.”
Kitata (2:05.41) set revenge against Kipchoge 2:05.41 who beat him to second place during the 2018 London Marathon. Kipchumba was second in 2:05.42
