Double Olympic Games 1,500m champion Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon and Olympic Games 1,500m silver medalist Tomothy Cheruiyot will headline the Doah Diamond League tomorrow, in Doha, Qatar.
The 1,500m specialists, however will not compete in their specials in the Diamond League Opener.
Kipyegon will be competing in the 3,000m alongside world cross country junior champion Beatrice Chebet, world 3,000m steeplechase record holder Beatrice Chepkoech, Africa junior 1,500m silver medalist Ednah jebitok, Kenyan-born Caroline Uganda’s Winnie Nanyondo, Burundi’s Francine Niyonsaba, Turkey’s Yasemin Can, Ethiopians Bertukan Welde, and Fantu Worku.
In the 1,500m men, World 1,500m champion Timothy Cheruiyot, will be facing off with Etyang Kamar, Abel Kipsang, Charles Simotwo, Ethiopians Taddese Lemi, Yomif Kejelcha, Samuel Zeleke, Ali Adam Musab, Australia’s Stewart Mcsweyn, Spain’s Ignacio Fontes.
Others in the steeplechase include Olympic 3,000m steeplechase champion El Bakkali Saufiane will be combining efforts with compatriot Boyassel Abderrafia in the race, Ethiopian Girma Lemecha, Haileselassie Yemene, Wale Getnet, Italian Abdelwahed Ahmed, Denmark’s hesselbjerg Ole, and Finish Raitanen Topi.
World Indoor Championships 800m medalist Noah Kibet will take on Commonwealth Games champion Wycliffe Kinyamal, Olympics silver medallist Ferguson Rotich, Canadian Marco Arop, Abdulrahman Balla, Australia’s Peter Bol, USA’s Erik Siwinski, Great Britain’s Daniel Rowden, and Abdirahman Hassan.
In other races, Olympic Games 3,000m steeplechase bronze medalist Benjamin Kigen will be taking on reigning Africa Games 3,000m steeplechase champion Abraham Kibiwot, former world under 20 champion Leonard Bett, Hillary Bor and Lawrence Kemboi.
