Olympic 800m gold medalist Mary Moraa and Lilian Odira have qualified to compete in 800m semifinals at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, japan.
The reigning 800m world champion, Moraa will be seeking to defend her title after sealing her place in the semi-final when she clocked 1:58.44 in heat 2 behind Frenchwoman Anais Borgouin, who timed 1:58.43 to win the heat before Gabriela Gajanova from Slovakia was third in 2:00.44.
Odira sealed her place in the semis after winning heat 5 ahead of Cuban Daily Cooper Gaspar as Ethiopian Workenesh Mesele completed the podium
It was disappointing after world under 20 800m champion Sarah Moraa and Vivian Kiprotich failing to qualify.
