Matata twin brothers Alex Nzioka and Charles Mbatha dominated the 2026 edition of Istanbul half marathon held today in Turkey.
It was an all Kenyan affair as Alex successfully defended the men’s title with Purity Gitonga winning the women’s title.
In men, Alex Matata edged out his twin brother Charles Matata to defend the title when he clocked 61:01 with Charles coming second in 62:12.
Kenyan extended its dominance with Purity Gitonga winning the women’s title in 66:50 followed by Ethiopia’s Ftaw Zeray and South Africa’s Glenrose Xaba completed the podium.
