For the first time, Menengai Oilers won their maiden 7s title at the Christie 7s that came to an end today at the RFUEA Grounds, Nairobi.
The Oilers edged out Strathmore Leos 24-12 for the title during the final play after Oilers having finished as runners-up at the Dala Sevens to Kabras, while Strathmore Leos suffered a final loss at the Kabeberi Sevens to KCB.
Leos touched down first for unconverted try for 5-0 lead but Oilers responded through Collins Maina to level at 5-5 but Oilers extended the lead through Glacious Owino for the converted try for 12-5 into water break.
The champions started well on resumption with Paul Mutsami crossed over for 19-5 then touchdown for 24-05 then Chrispin Shitundo made the final converted try for Leos to make it 24-12 at the final whistle.
