Mfalme Strikers: Abiud Kipkirui, Simon Kipkorir makes a debut

General Service Unit’s (GSU) pair of Abiud Kipkirui and Simon Kipkorir will make their debut at the 2017 CAVB African Nations Cup championships that serves in Cairo, Egypt on Sunday acting as 2018 World Championships qualifiers that will be co-hosted by Bulgaria and Italy.

The pair were named in the twelve man squad of Mfalme Strikers-the men’s national team leaves the country on Friday.

Head coach Moses Epoloto named Jairus Kipkosgei from Kenya Prisons as Captain of the squad after dropping Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) setter, Elisha Aliwa, GSU libero, Noah Bett and Prisons’ attacker, Timon Kimutai from his final 12 with the team due to depart on Friday.

The one week long extravaganza has will see the technical director and former Malkia head coach David Lung’aho, rallied the team to secure one of the three berths available for the global showpiece.

Team Manager, Ismail Chege, told of the selection headache they went through in whittling down the squad from 20 that reported for training at the Safaricom Indoor Arena, Kasarani to the travelling 12.
