Migori County defeated Samburu in sitting volleyball at the ongoing County Assemblies Sports Association (CASA) at The Eldoret Polytechnic ground on October 2nd.
The combined efforts of men and women, Migori won 2-1 in the only game of the day played at the Pavilion.
The winners won the opening set 25-19 but Samburu came back rejuvenated to take the second set 15-25 as resilient Migori combined well to win the third and final set 25-15.
In netball, Bungoma County won all their Wednesday matches to take pool C lead while hosts Uasin Gishu controlled pool A.
In the first match, Bungoma defeated Taita Taveta 16-05 in one of the highly scoring chances before adding their second win to Nakuru in 12-09.
Hosts defeated Turkana 12-10 while Kilifi also won two matches with 23-12 and 21-06 against Nyamira and Embu respectively in pool A.
Kisumu were 10-03 winners against Trans Nzoiain pool D as Busia lost 8-9 to Siaya in pool B. in pool H, Kiambu and Kwale were 7-1 and 6-13 winners against Narok and Baringo respectively.
Football defending champions Uasin Gishu won by a solitary goal against Kilifi with the goal scored in the 49th minute by Elvis Tarus.
Uasin Gishu captain Hillary Rono said they had prepared well for the games despite the earlier challenges they encountered.
Rono said they played very well against kilfi in a postponed match with the issue well resolved where the jury decided that there was no problem because of what happening on the curtain raise match.
“Because there were some players who were not allowed in the team but the match was not an official match and today we happy we played well. Last time we won against Kilifi 3-0 but today we have managed to win one goal, shows they have improved a lot,” said Rono.
He added that as defending champions and host its they are under pressure.
“Each team is seeing us as a threat and actually we are a threat and mark in this tournament and we are to defend our title, that is what we are targeting and we know we will achieve it,” added Rono.
