Mombasa United shine over Nairobi City in the battle of promotion

Mombasa United won their first match against newly relegated side Nairobi City Stars under new coach Peter Okidi in the National Super League match played at the Mabarki stadium in Mombasa County.

Following the exit of Gilbert Sselembwa, Okidi took over the reigns to toady, they managed win 2-1 at home with a brace from Dennis Toeri and a consolation goal from Joseph Muriuki.

Toeri scored the opener in the 8th minute of the match before doubling in the 21st minute after converting from a penalty for 2-0 then Muriuki headed home the consolation in the 40th minute for a 2-1 into break.

The win propelled them to top three positions alongside Migori Youth and 3K FC as the National Super League enters its decisive final stretch.

Before Sselebwa left the club, they were leading the table
