Musingu Boys and Butere girls are the football champions of Western Region Secondary Schools Sports Association term two ball games that came to an end today at the Sudi stadium in Bungoma County.
In the kakamega County derby, Musingu recorded a 2-1 win against Munyuki while Butere beat their county counterparts Arch Bishop Njenga to take home the titles home.
The Brendan Mwinamo’s Musingu came from a goal down to win 2-1 when Samuel Barasa handed Munyuki the lead before Kevin Mukaramija leveling the score at 1-1 and Fredrick Onyango sealing the victory.
The Edwin Sakwa side Butere retained their title after beating Njenga in post match penalties after a 2-2 draw. Shirleen Nambengele and Hilda Natecho were on target for the finalists while Diana Anyango and Valencia Onyango scored for the champions.
It was an all Bungoma county in volleyball victory when East Africa champions Namwela Boys and former champions Lugulu girls took honours.
In boys, Namwela triumphed over Busia’s Butula High 3-0 (25:19, 25:23, 25:16) with Lugulu shining over Kakameg’a Mwitoti by similar sets in 25:19, 25:14, 25:14.
In the 3×3 basketball, Butere and Kamusinga were victorious after beating Sirakaru and Sigalame respectively.
All winners booked for the National championships that will be held in Kisumu’s Nyanza region July 29th to August 7th.
