National Super league: Boniface Mukhekhe nets a brace as GFE shine against Palos

Boniface Mukhekhe score a brace for Global Field Evangelism (GFE) 105 to beat Palos fc 2-1 in a match that both teams finished with ten men in the National Super league match played at Kipchoge stadium in Eldoret today (Wednesday 8th).

The win marked the end of a 12 match long wait for the Eldoret side to collect three points in all competitions, with sigh of relief from head coach Joshua Obare saying the win was through hard work and endurance.

Playing on home turf, Mukhekhe opened the score with 7 minutes into the match with his right foot shot to give home team the lead before adding his second on 12th minute mark.

Mukhekhe collected the ball from Geoffrey Aluala on the left wing and shot passed Robert Ouma for the first goal. Palos responded fast on a counter attack but Augustine Kuta failed to level a minute later with his shot landed safely in the pair hands of GEF keeper Alex Tengu.

The skipper who was later red carded connected Elly Otieno’s cross to net the second goal of the match.

Palos’ Kelvin Wesonga failed to score on 38th minute with a one on one with Tengu as his tap went over bar.

On 42 minute’ Aluala’s corner rolled on the cross bar and on 45th minute Alex Waiswa’s shot on target was saved again into the break with hosts leading 2-0.

Second half was full of drama, fouls and red cards.  The first red card went to Palos’ substitute Benedicto Mwangala on 57th minute. Mwangala elbowed GFE defender Sammy Kiptoo as the visitors were forced to play ten men.

Palos exerted pressure on home team but on 73rd minute, GFE’s goal scorer Mukhekhe was sent after kicking Kevin Monyi who was on the ground.

With each teamhaving ten players in the field, pressuer mounted on hosts and Kevin Mwakha tackled Job Omasa resulting into a penalty that was converted by Ben Barasa for a consolation.

Obara said it has been a while since they won a match and that has motivated the players into the next match.

“Through determination, endurance and team work saved us and the win is so crucial for us,” said Obara.

In the reverse fixture, GFE won by a solitary goal.
