National Super League (NSL) sides Vihiga United and Wazito fc were promoted to Kenya Premier League (KPL) after they wrapped up their season in perfect fashion.
Vihiga United, which had 77 points into the last match beat Ushuru by a solitary goal that was leading the table with 78 points that was played today at Mumias Complex.
Bernard Ochieng netted the all important goal in the 31st minute settling the tense game in the opening half as the hosts dispatched Ushuru from the top of the table to third.
Ushuru FC went to the clash with their script well written, apart from seeking revenge after having been eliminated from the GOtv Shield at the same venue by the same team, they also hoped to avenge the 3 – 2 loss in the first leg meeting in Nairobi. They however failed to match the speedy start by the hosts and only had Amos Kigadi’s wastefulness to thank in the early advances as the forward fluffed his lines in the 16thand 21st minutes when well placed.
Wazito FC’s gain as Frank Ouna’s side walloped Police FC 5 – 2 at the Narok County Stadium to finish second and book the final automatic promotion slot.
At Camp Toyoyo, Administration Police secured their place in the league with a 2 – 0 win over bottom placed MOSCA with goals from Robert Jagero in the fourth and 47th minutes.
In Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, host Nakuru AllStars hit Agrochemicals 3 – 0 to finish the season on a high, with goals from Peter Thiongo and brace from Joseph Chege.
FC Talanta fell 2 – 3 to St. Joseph’s Youth in Thika while visitors GFE 105 also picked a win, beating Kibera Black Stars 1 – 0 at the same venue and close by, at Camp Toyoyo, City Stars fell 0 – 2 to Nairobi Stima as Palos and Isibania played to a barren draw at Moi Stadium, Kisumu, in what will also be Palos FC’s last match of the league before the team folds.
