Joseph Okumu will captain Harambee Stars, the national men’s soccer team at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Zimbabwe away in Uganda.
Head coach Engin Firat named Okumu to replace Michael Olunga who will not be available for the qualifiers set for today evening.
Okumu, who plays for Reims is expected to spearhead the national team at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Namboole in Uganda.
Firat’s decision to hand the former Elfsborg defender the armband does not come as a shock considering that he was part of the Stars team that featured in the 2019 finals.
