Africa 100m champion Ferdinand Omurwa Omanyala and upstart Samuel Imeta qualified to compete in the 100m semifinal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
The africa 100m record holder clocked 10.07 seconds to win the fifth heat ato qualify to the semi-finals after edging out Eseme Emmanuel from Cameroon (10.08).
Defending champion Akani Simbine from South Africa clocked 10.10 seconds to win the second heat.
Favour Ashe won the opening heat in 10 12 sec as Ojie Edoburun from England claimed third heat in 10.27sec.
Imeta is also through to the semis after finishing second in heat nine after posting a personal best of 10.12 seconds.
