Reigning Commonwealth games 100m champion Ferdinand Omurwa Omanyala today made history by winning the Addis Ababa Grand Prix today in Ethiopia.
The African 100m record holder clocked an impressive 9.98 seconds for the title ahead of Kip Keino Classic next Friday in Nairobi.
His performance in Ethiopia confirmed an upward trajectory, dipping below the 10-second mark in only his second race of the campaign, a significant early-season statement.

At the same time, Mercy Chebet won silver in the women’s 400m while Edwin Elkana crossed the finish line in 14:03.03 in the 5,000m.
