Despite shooting a blank, handicap 21 golfer Pyare Aggarwal recollected himself with his excellent skills to win this year’s Reale Hospital Golf tournament held at nine, Eldoret club on Saturday 26th.
Enjoying home ground advantage, Aggarwal Played identical 20 stable ford points in each nine with 40 stable ford points to emerge victorious in the healthy tournament meant to educate golfers on the importance of non communicable diseases.
Aggarwal started well with two pars, four bogies and three double bogies in the inward nine before Returning with four pars, four bogies and a single double bogey for other 20 points.
He managed to beat Rosemary Cuthbert to second place with a single point to 39 stable ford points.
Teeing off handicap 34, Cuthbert said her three times training on weekly basis has finally bored fruits.
“I always practice nine holes three days in a week before going to work and that has paid off,” said Cuthbert.
With such low handicap, Cuthbert emerged from the blues to restore her glory even though she complained of ‘uncooperative’ ground.
“The ground initially was wet and the ball could land where your target but today it wasn’t. at the same time, I played with great team that have long shots but my shots were steady especially on fairways,” said Cuthbert who also stepped on the podium for first nine winner with 21 stable ford points and eighteen on the second nine.
Youngster Rishab Sagoo completed the podium with 39 stable ford points losing to Cuthbert by count back.
Jackson Kiprono was fourth (37) followed by Ezekiel Mutai (36) and Western Region Kenya Golf Union (KGU) representative Andrew Chelogoi completing top six finishers.
Emmanuel Talel collected the best marker’s prize with 34 stable ford points while Philip Boit won the nearest to the pin after shooting 199 yards on hole 2.
Long hitter Elly Barno shot 442 yards to collect men’s longest drive while Gracemary Karira managed to shoot 352 yards for the prize on hole 6.
