Veteran race walker Erick Shikuku and Elizabeth Muthoka will captain team Kenya at the forthcoming 25th edition of the World Masters Athletics Championships that will be staged in Gothenburg, Sweden.
With the championships set to start from August 13th to August 25th, Shikuku and Muthoka will lead a contingent of 26 athletes and 8 officials that will fly the Kenyan flag in Gothenburg from next week
At the same time, the Secretary Administrative in the State Department of Sports Evans Achoki has given a rallying call to Kenya’s athletics legends to offer mentorships to youngsters in the sport to ensure continued dominance globally.
Achoki urged the former world beaters to share financial advice with the current generation of local stars who are enjoying their prime in the field.
The Athletics Kenya Masters team is expected to travel tomorrow evening to Gothenburg and this will be their fourth participation in the World Masters Athletics Championships.
