Shujaa finish 7th at Hong Kong sevens

Shujaa, the national men’s 7s rugby team finished 7th overall at the concluded Hong Kong Sevens Championships played at the Kai Tak Park in China.

The Kevin Wambua coached side defeated France 21-07 to claim the 7th position with tries from Nygel Amaitsa and a brace from Festus Shiasi handed Kenya the victory.

Amaitsa made the first try with a conversion for a 7-0 lead for Kenya then France responded through a converted try by Maxim Granell to level into break.

After water break, Shiasi touched down the second converted try for 21-07 lead.

Shujaa co-captain Samuel Asati crossed over for a try that was converted to seal a 21-7 victory.

Shujaa now shift focus to Valladolid in Spain, set for April 29-30, 2026, where they will be aiming to push further and maintain their place in the top eight.
