Snow in a shot lead at Safari Tour Muthaiga leg

GREG Snow fired three under par 68 to take the lead at the penultimate stage of the Safari Tour Golf Series at the par 71 Muthaiga Golf club ahead of Wednesday’s final round.

Enjoying home advantage, Snow fired three under par 210 to take the lead as he fights to remain on top of the lead ahead of the Magical Kenya Open set for next month.

An albatross in hole 18 boosted his efforts to beat his club mate Mutahi Kibugu and Alloys Nsabimana who recorded T2 with -2 for the top three positions.

Snow, who is the reigning national Safari Tour champion, started off with back-to-back pars in 1 and 2  and then increased points with a birdie in three but dropped two shots in four. He then recovered with a par in the 5th two clubs in 6th and 7th and leveled in the 8th and 9th for a level par 35 in the opening nine.

His three under par 33 was settled in the second nine to claim top position when he teed off with a par in the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th birdied in the 14th leveled in the 15th and 16th with a bogey in 17th, and an albatross in 18th to seal the top position.

Snow, who has not won any leg this season, will be hoping to register his maiden victory.

“I had a good day and my iron was at the best, putting in good positions to make birdie putts,” said Snow.

Training behind Zimbabwean Robson Chinhoi on the series with 10 points, Snow is optimistic of retaining his title.

He says that he has dreams of retaining his title as the match to Magical Kenya enters homestretch.

“This season has been difficult, playing without winning any title but I’m sure with the victory tomorrow (Wednesday) I will take the lead again,” said Snow with confidence.

After leading in the second round on Monday, Kibugu dropped to second on the leaderboard as round one leader Samuel Njoroge dropped to T11.
