Upstarts Silas Sugut and Winnie Jerotich were the winners of 8km and 6km junior men and women respectively during Athletics Kenya Uasin Gishu County championships held today at Huruma grounds.
20 year old Sugut clocked 22:15.8 to win the 8km junior men ahead of Godwin Marus (22:42.59) and Peter Kiplimo’s 23:01.9.
Jerotich shone in 6km junior women edging a great field to cross the finish line timing 20:20.6 ahead of Milicent Jepkosgei (20:27.8) and Rency Chelangat in 21:L23.3.

In Elgeyo Marakwet county, world under 20 5,000m champion Edward Zakayo destroyed the field by winning the 10km senior men’s title as Brilian Jepkorir won the senior women’s title.
