Tennis Kenya has partnered with French Tennis Federation in creating international opportunities for players, clubs, coaches and officials.
The Tennis Kenya Secretary Nancy Ndungu, in a statement announced the launch of a strategic collaboration with the French Tennis Federation (FFT), opening new international pathways for Kenyan players, coaches, officials and clubs while strengthening technical and institutional cooperation between Kenya and France.
The collaboration introduces a structured programme of development initiatives spanning player development, infrastructure, officiating, coach education and leadership exchange, reflecting Tennis Kenya’s commitment to expanding opportunities across the entire tennis ecosystem.
This initiative aligns with the priorities of the Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, which continues to promote youth empowerment, sports excellence and international partnerships that create global opportunities for Kenyan athletes and sports professionals. The collaboration is also supported by the Embassy of France in Kenya, strengthening sports cooperation between the two countries
The key Areas of Collaboration will be implemented through a series of initiatives designed to strengthen Kenya’s tennis pathway from grassroots to international competition, by though competitions, Junior High Performance Training & Competition.
Kenya’s top Under-16 players will travel to France next ,month for training and competition within the Istres Tennis Club competition academy, including participation in the international junior tournament pathway linked to the Istres Open (J200)
Tennis Kenya expresses its appreciation to Istres Tennis Club for partnering in this programme and hosting the Kenyan players within their academy structure.
Kenyan representatives will participate in a technical exchange programme in Paris where they will understudy the teams responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the clay courts at RolandGarros.
The exchange will allow them to document the full process of clay court preparation and produce a technical reference guide to support the development and maintenance of clay courts across Kenya, particularly as tennis infrastructure expands within clubs and counties.
I also had the opportunity to represent Kenya at the East African Zonals, where my partner and I played singles matches in the finals against Uganda and was able to secure a win in three sets. It was a great experience to compete at that level. Additionally, I was honoured to serve as team captain for both the U14 and U16 teams. The Kenya team performed very well, winning in all categories in both singles and doubles. I earned my first ITF ranking during a tournament in Ghana, where I reached the third round of a J60 event.
