Commonwealth Games 1,500m silver medalist Timothy Cheruiyot extended his winning formula to Monaco Diamond League ran last night in France.
Cheruiyot, who broke the Lausane Diamond League meeting record last weekend, won in his favourite race in 3:29.87 ahead of Jakob Ingrebrigtesn in second timing 3:30.47 and Ronald Musangu in third position clocking 3:30.58.
The reigning world 2,500m silver medalist produced the only win for Kenyans as Benjamin Kigen fell to Moroccan Soufiane Bakkali in 3,000m steeplechase.
Bakklai won the race timing 8:84.82 relegating Kigen to second in 8:05.12 and Ethiopia’s Getnet Wale in third timing 8:95.51.
Ferguson Rotich also played second fiddle to Nijel Amos in 800m race. Amos won in 1:41.89 while Rotich came second in 1:42.54 and Anel Tuka completed the podium timing 1”43.62.
Nelly Jepkosgei was the best Kenyan in 800m finishing a distance 9th in 2:04.85 in a race won by American Ajee Wilson (1:57.73) followed by Natoya Goule (1:57.90).
