After three years of long wait, Uganda golfers will smile following their victory at The Victoria Cup golf tournament that ended today on par 72 Uganda golf club.
Hosts Uganda dominated in this year’s tournament that has for years need won by Kenyan golfers that is sponsored two time Boston marathon champion Moses Tanui.
They put up an excellent performance in the closing round singles, beating defending champions Kenya 7-3 for an all rounds total of 14 points to win the Victoria Cup.
Played in a rotational formula, Kenya will be hosting the 2020 tournament after winning in 2018.
William Odera remained unbeaten in all his matches with Daniel Nduva Simon Njogu who fought all the way to the end.
Robinson Owiti, who had not lost any match, lost the last hole against Ugandan captain Joseph Chinywaai 2-1 victory.
Nduva had won 2-1 against Ashraf Bagalana while Odera beat Grace Kasongo 6.2.
Kenya has won a total of three times in a tournament that teed off in 2016 at Muthaiga club, followed by another win in Entebbe Uganda in 2017 and kenya won in 2018 for a hat-trick but using homeground advantage, Uganda won in 2019.
