Unstoppable Chepkoech lead Kenya in podium sweep at Birmingham Diamond League

World 3,000m steeplechase record holder Beatrice Chepkoech extended her winning ways at the Birmingham Diamond League ran today in the United Kingdom.

The reigning Commonwealth Games 3,000m steeplechase silver medalist extended lead in the Diamond League series when he edged out former world champion Hyvin Kiyeng and former junior World under- 20 champion Celliphine Chespol to an all Kenyan podium finish.

The Olympic games silver medalist won the race timing 9:05.55 ahead of Kiyeng and Chespol in 9:6.75 ad 9:7.25.

In the men’s 800m it was a painful loss for Alfred Kipketer who was on the verge of victory but he lost his grip in the two laps race, 20 metres from the finish line allowing a relentless Mark English from Ireland to deny him victory.

The former world youth champion clocked 1 minute 46.10 seconds to finish second. Great Britain pair of Jamie Webb and Thomas Spencer finished third and fourth respectively
