Former champions Vihiga Queens defeated reigning champions Thika Queens in the battle of the queens’ derby to stay on top of the table as Kenya Women Premier league takes a two week break.
Janet Bundi Moraa scored the only goal at the Thika stadium to seal the victory for the Vihiga based club. The former Eldoret Falcons player fired in the second half as to take a 31 point lead at the top of the table.
With the break, the league will return in the weekend of 2nd April with transfer window opened between 18th March to 8th April.
Mercy Mang’ura bagged a hat trick as Cup winners Ulinzi Starlets thrashed Kayole Starlets 6-0. As Mang’ura was on hat-trick, Siliya Rasoa scored a brace with an on-goal from Kayole for a 6-0 win.
In other matches, Trans nzoia Falcons defeated relegation bound Kisujmu Allstarlets 3-1 with Elizabeth Nafula bagging a brace and Martha Karani scoring one for the winners with Cynthia Akinyi netting a consolation for Kisumu based club.
Second placed Gaspo Women played to a one-all draw against Nakuru City Queens where Emily Atieno was on target for nakuru before Lavyne Anyango leveled to grab a point.
