Women premier league: Eldoret Falcon signs new players ahead of second leg

In preparations for the second leg of Kenyan Women Premier League (KWPL), Eldoret Falcon has signed six players to solidify the squad.

With seven points from seven games the team has played, it has locked on position five behind leaders Oserian which has not lost any match in the KWPL Zone B, dropping two points from a draw.

The second leg, which was to kick this weekend, has been postponed to next weekend with Eldoret based side to play the tailing Nyamira County Starlets which has not collected any point from seven matches in the opening leg.

Club chairman Joshua Ariko said the team is prepared to ensure that they remain top in the league and perhaps win the title.

“We are now pursuing for a midfielder from Oserian to also join the team. The team is currently training in the camp and we are confident that the squad will be stronger than before following the new players,”Ariko said.

The new players are Linda Auma (striker) from Thika Queens, goalkeeper Maureen Shimuli also from Thika Queens, Joyce Awuor and striker Ruth James from Moi University, Diana Shakava from Bishop Njenga and midfielder Njoki Mutua who is returning to the team after missing out in the previous season.

He added that they are still negotiating for a midfielder from Oserian to beef the squad.

Falcon is in position five in the 8 team league after collecting 7 points from 7 matches it played in the first leg with Oserian, having 19 points leads the table standing. Vihiga Queens sits second with 18 points, Wadadia third with 14 and Palos Ladies (9), Vihiga Leeds is in seventh with 6 points while Bulemia follows with three and Nyamira County Starlets are trailing the standings with zero points.
