Reigning 800m Commonwealth champion Wycliffe Kinyamal and 1,500m Commonwealth silver medalist Timothy Cheruiyot were the winners of today’s Shanghai Diamond League meeting ran in China.
Kinyamal who won the first gold for Kenya at last month’s club games in Gold Coast Australia, extended his dominance in the second meeting of Diamond League before heading to Eugene in two weeks time in the USA.
Competing in lane three, the 20 year old runner crossed the finish line in 1:43.91 ahead of 2014 World Under-20 1,500m champion Jonathan Sawe who clocked 1:43.95.
Following his good run in Gold Coast to win silver for the country, Timothy Cheruiyot won the 1,500m race ahead of Ethiopian Samuel Tefera.
The 2017 world championships silver medalist clocked 3:31.48 as Tefera was second in 3:31.68.
