Olympic Games javelin silver medalist Julius Yego will be the top Kenyan athlete that will not be competing at the Kip Keion Classic, the World Athletics Continental Tour set for this Saturday at Nyayo National Stadium.
As the last the 7th and last show, there will be 152 elite athletes who will be competing for top prizes come Saturday 3rd October.
Kenya’s will be hoping to deliver at home to show the prowess as a powerhouse in athletics after running shows across the world.
Kenya’s national champion Dominic Abunda and Rebecca Kerubo will be chasing javelin title in the absence of Yego, in javelin Alexander Kiprotich, Duncan Kinyanjui and Methusellah Kiprop will fill the gap.
World 3,000m steeplechase champion Conseslus Kipruto will fight doubt in men’s 3,000m steeplechase title alongside 2016 World Under-20 champion Amos Kirui, 2019 national cross country champion and 2018 World Under-20 silver medallist Leonard Bett.
World 3,000m steeplechase record holder Beatrice Chepkoech will battle out with and 2016 Rio Olympics silver medallist Hyvin Kiyeng.
In 5,000m, Jacob Krop and Nicholas will battle for the 5,000m title.
