Aline Kuster-Menager: I expect talented Kenyans to shine in Paris Games

France ambassador to Kenya Aline Kuster-Menager is optimistic that Kenya will have a good contingent and good results at the 2024 Olympic Games that will be held in Paris, France.

Speaking in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County yesterday, Menenger during the inaugural 10km Iten-Paris Home of Champions held in Iten.

In the event, Miriam Chebet and Josphat Chumo were the women and men winners to mark the International Olympics Day.

Chebet, the winner of women’s 10km title in 32:54.6 was followed by Cynthia Chemweno (33:15.8) and Millicent Kemboi completing the podium in 34:05.1.

Chumo won the men’s title in 28:55.2 beating Josphat Melly to second in 29:36.6 and Felix Kurui came third in 29:40.7.

Menager said that the event is part of preparations for the 2024 Olympic Games that will be staged in her home country.

Menager said they are partnering with the Athletics Kenya and other partners to promote the sport in the country ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games. 

“The other thing is to also use the sport to end gender-based violence which is on the rise especially in athletics and this is something that has to be stopped,” said Menager.
